10 - 15 YEARS OLD
The show "To become an Astronomer" can be watched with interest by students 10 - 15 years old. This is a great opportunity to learn about the contemporary effects of astronomers' work and realize how much we owe to their discoveries. This show is based on beautiful animations of space and unique film shots from observatories around the world.
The show "Macrocosmos" is a virtual journey to the end of the Universe. Starting from Earth, we pass artificial satellites, cross the border of our planetary system, pass subsequent stars and galaxies, and finally see the Universe on the largest scale.
Our latest show "This is the Cosmos" will make young viewers realize that today, busy and immersed in the world of numbers and patterns, we often look at the sky without emotions, and the star constellations have become only echoes of mythical heroes and monsters. The majesty of the sky, its power, constancy and mystery have made it a canvas for the projection of various fantasies that were born in the minds of observers for centuries. So how can we describe the Cosmos? It turns out that you can use maps and globes, tell stories with drawings, poetry and music. And the combination of everything was an extraordinary device created 100 years ago - a planetarium.
The show "Beyond the Horizon" will make students realize that when we look at the starry sky at night, we are actually observing the passage of time. How far, or rather how long, we can see objects in the Universe to better understand concepts such as space and time.
Although stars are always the subject of our stories, we have also prepared a show called "The Northern Lights", which will introduce students to one of the most fascinating phenomena, the auroras. What are they, where do they come from and how have their origins been explained in different cultures over hundreds of years. Do they only occur on our planet?
The Planetarium offers also two interactive exhibitions: MARS#17 Base and Geodium.
Mars#17 Base is an interactive and multimedia area that resembles a futuristic space laboratory. The visitors, just like crew members, will have to perform some activities that are required for extraterrestrial survival and in order to complete their tasks. Their mission includes not only monitoring the Base's condition but also repairing some small defects, Martian soil analysis or proper administration of energy. Apart from granting shelter and food it will be the strategic factor conditioning the human survival on Mars. Geodium is dedicated to the Earth. Four models (volcano, ocean, glacier and human civilization) are pages from the history of our planet. The rotating globe model shows the appearance of the Earth as seen from spac. Interaxtive exhibits describe e.g.: magnetic field, convection, tectonic plates, earthquakes or renewable energy sources. Interactivity stimulates imagination and allows students to conduct simple experiments on their own and develop their interests.
